WICKENBURG MIGHTY MITES FOOTBALL

GO UNDEFEATED

On Saturday, September 30, the Wickenburg Wrangler Mighty Mites extended their undefeated record to 4-0, putting them all alone on top of their West Division of Youth football. The Mighty Mites are kids ages six years to eight years old.

The Camp Verde Cowboys, who also came to this game undefeated, were the toughest challenge the Wranglers have faced, to date.

Out-sizing the Wranglers, and with great talent, the Cowboys came out hard and fast, taking the lead in the first quarter,  8-0 after a touchdown and a successful 2 point conversion.

But the Wranglers re-grouped, and the Defensive Unit figured out the their strategies, and dominated, as they held the Cowboys scoreless, for the remainder of the game.

Then the offense kicked in. Led by Cade Jones as Quarterback, the Wranglers marched down the field to score in the second quarter. After an unsuccessful 2 point conversion the Wranglers went into halftime with Camp Verde still leading 8-6.

The second half continued to see the smaller Defense of the Wranglers punish the Cowboys. Brett Custer took away their outside running by coming out of the secondary and  delivering some powerful hits, keeping them to short gains. Cory McFarland and Travis Pollay made key tackles, and Pollay, Zane Arnt, and Jacob Gaines each forced a fumble. Giancarlo Horcos and Chase Ballard squeezed the ends to the inside.

The third quarter brought the winning touchdown, and after a second unsuccessful conversion, the Wranglers continued to frustrate the Cowboys and run the clock down for their 12-8 Victory.

Next week, October 7, brings another difficult challenge for the Wranglers as they are visited by the Chino Valley Titans. This will certainly be another hard fought game.

Game time is 11:00 am at the Wranglers High School Stadium. Come and see this exciting future of Wickenburg Football!
