The local newspaper says that there are very few debateable issues in Wickenburg. I disagree. First, there is the issue of the temporary bypass and the ultimate bypass. This process started over 8 years ago. ADOT came up with a poor solution to the traffic problems in Wickenburg with a proposed interim bypass plan. The Town of Wickenburg, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Wickenburg Sun all shouted hurray. They all also agreed to continue to put pressure on ADOT for the building of the ultimate solution-a bypass on the west side of town. Since the proposed interim, the Town, the Chamber, and the local newspaper have done little or nothing to convince ADOT to continue with the ultimate bypass. So instead, we will have a "white elephant" going up the river that will be obsolete by the time it is built. Second, the issue of growth and what type of community people want Wickenburg to be in the future certainly is an issue that has different opinions. Third, the effectiveness of the police department is another issue. Fourth, the leadership ability, or lack thereof, of the current administration in Wickenburg is debateable. Fifth, the proposed annexation plans to make Wickenburg over 750 square miles probably is debateable. I find it interesting also that people that share the Chamber, Town, and newspapers opinion are praised for their resolve. However, the people on the other side of the issue are vilified for the same resolve, but opposite position. The local paper is wrong on this issue and that is not debateable.
