This same topic was brought to light a couple of years ago during the debate concerning the Ringwood project at the Wickenburg Country Club. As a result of the huge turnout at the Town Council meeting (discussing the zoning change proposed for the property allowing high density housing in an area previously zoned as low density) large numbers of concerned citizens showed up to voice opposition. It was the largest turnout seen in quite some time, and yet the council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning. It was as if no one listened to the citizen's concerns. Ever since that issue was discussed, the town has adopted a new policy of not posting signs on the affected property. Town Manager Shane Dille and Town Planner Miles Johnson both proposed and adopted the new policy. (Has anyone seen either individual lately? Both are no longer serving their positions.) Is it any wonder that citizens are reacting negatively to the town's proposals for new annexations? How could anyone in their right mind wish to be annexed into a town where the Planning & Zoning Commission and Town Council both ignore their constituent's concerns? Higher taxes and no representation- what a deal!
