F-16 Fighter Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Wickenburg
10/22/2009 - LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. - An F-16D Fighting Falcon assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing made an emergency landing at Wickenburg municipal airport at approximately 10:30 a.m. after losing engine power. The aircraft landed short of the runway, but the crew of 2 pilots was able to exit the aircraft safely. An
eye witness working near Bear Manufacturing saw the F-16
rapidly descending towards the airport and stated he thought the
landing gears were not down. He then heard a large bang sound as the
plane hit the ground. It has been reported that the plane was armed
with live weapons.
